View Full Version : Anyone drive the clk63 or m6?
Anyone every drive the new CLK63 AMG (only aval in a vert right now in the USA but the black series will come here in a coupe) I am wondering what it is like to drive the clk63 with almost 500hp and ton of torque as well?
do AMG cars with the big 5.5 or this case the 6.2 litre engines fun to drive?
It looks great but almost just a reg CLK on a mild steroid cycle. I mean it most go like hell but the price is an issue. brand new tag is around 90k but one with 2000 miles are selling for high 70s already.
The m6? (smg or 6MT) any test drives on this car? 500 with a v10.
Again looks like a 6 series on a mild dose of anabolic steroids etc
The price on the M6 seems to be holding strong at least

most of us are sick of the german brands so we are driving these italian cars already ;)
the black series CLK is madness. i think it made those CLK GTR owners cried by mass manufacturing it. their website looks very good (after the Alfa 8C site).
from my experience with the E55, i can tell you that the tons of torque is fun. compare to my QP, for some odd reasons, the traction seems to be better managed in the E55. the QP's traction control is just too conservative. i never like their 5 speed autobox.
as for the M6, i cannot get over its styling. in or out. yuk.

Hello guys
This is no joke!!!!!!!
On a Greek highway i was cruising around 110mph passing loaded trucks and vehicles, while i saw the flash of the lights of a red 6 series BMW.
Saw better, recognized the mirrors (Ooops M6 time to play).
Indead double exhausts, angry sound, M6 badge, yes it is one!
Still throttle, step right, let M6 pass (speed around 130mph), downshift 5th gear, full throttle, the chase begins.
NOT AT ANY MOMENT THE M6 MANAGED TO GET AWAY FROM ME.
I WAS ONLY 3ft AWAY FROM HER EXHAUSTS ALL THE TIME!!!!
AS SOON AS I REACHED 160mph, M6 STEPS ASIDE, LET ME PASS AND GAVE UP SPEEDING.
I TOOK MY FOOT UP ONLY WHEN I REACHED 180mph, AND OFCOURSE NO M6 AROUND!
NOTHING LIKE A NICE BREED ITALIAN STALION!
ALL THE REST ARE ONLY FAT BOTTOMED GERMAN HOUSEWIFES.
I NEED TO RIDE A MONICA BELUCCI IN MY LIFE NOT A MOTHER OF MY CHILDREN. I ALREADY HAVE ONE
Cheers

Luckily it is also fuckin awesome
As a side note I have an SL55 while they are brutes (tons of torque due to displacement and the twinscrew supercharger) the rest of the car is lacking for spirited driving the rubber and suspension are not really up to the task of the 8 piston front brembos or the 498 hp she carries...if you want a fast car that is enjoyable to take corners in the MB is a bad choice...if the maser were a scalpel this thing would be a sledgehammer...which would you rather perform brain surgery with?
My opinion on the M is BMW puts too much luxury into thier M models now...I would take an original M6 but never a new one.

Sure, Monica Bellucci sounds dangerous, but I am sure she is an exciting ride.

Which part? Riding Monica Bellucci? Quello sarebbe dolce...
The M6 has a completely useless rear seat, if that matters to you. The carbon roof is hideous also. Additionally, the M5/M6's still seem to have numerous technology gremlins haunting them. My friend is on his 2nd M5, which still seems to spend a lot of time in the service department...

The problems with the SMG box are so common it has a nickname: The cog of death.
We've had a few customers get rid of their M5s for Quattroportes for that reason. We also sold one M5, but so far he's had no problems with it.

I could have had the M6, M3, and others, test drove them, but after driving my Maserati I am happy to say that I more than made the right choice...
Running around town and out on the highway this summer here in Denver at a mile high I have found out the following:
M3's are not worth the time to put the gas pedal down, they look cool, but easy to leave them in the dust right off the line, they can't catch you at all.
Suburu WRX's are fun to play cat and mouse with. They sound like a lawn mower, I call them the briggs and stratton.
M5's are sluggish.
Volkswagen Toureg, Diesel, very quick to 80 or so, Surprisingly fast.
Volkswagen Jetta V6, not that quick, but good time end of 135.. That day my speedo touched the 160 mark....
Audi's are decent after 60mph, but I am long gone then.
M6's look decent but are not quick and handle like a brick.
C06 Vette's are pretty quick, put up a good fight. Ran with one to 140 a month ago when he let off..
Mustangs, including the new Cobra, are over weight, and slow.
The new Dodge Charger SRT-8 is dog slow, smoked one so bad he turned around at the next light and went the other way.
Ferrari F430... Well this is a different story... I had a black one chase me down the on ramp south bound onto I-25 from 144th this last Saturday... When I went for second gear, he didn't have to, produced two car lengths ahead of me in a quick manner. When we hit the bottom of the on ramp, I was doing 115 mph, not sure how fast he was going, but he was long gone....
I find the track results posted earlier a little odd, not what I was expecting. I know Car and Driver took all the latest cars this last spring and ran them at Nurburgring and the F430 on Pirelli P-Zero's had the fastest lap times, the Lambo couldnt' keep up, the Corvette couldn't, The Porsche couldn't either.... Even the Ford GT got smoked by the 430....

I'd be pretty interested to see what a QP run flat out on the Nurburgring would come away with.

Curious, which Porsche and which Lambo?? CarreraGT and LP640?

It was R & T, not C & D.. I get both so I mix them up all the time..

Ok after this weekend of driving an m6 alot, the M3 is more fun then the m6. Yes the m6 is faster etc but on fun factor the m3e46 vert is better then the m6 vert on the fun level.
The reg. Gt mustang is too heavy. I imagine the Saleen extreme with 600 hp would fun as it has 2x the HP and not more in lbs
I think the clk63 will be fun.
of course the 430 is king of the hill
I never keep cars more then 18 months so why not get 1 one of each for 12 months :) :D

Sorry guys, but unfortunately here in Greece and in Europe in general, we don't experience often the "American way" at the league of the supercars.
Excluding Corvette, wich is also a rare image on the streets, no other American supercars can be seen around.
It also true that press does not wellcome well cars from the "other side of the Atlantic".
"they are flabby, cannot turn, poor quality", etc
If you listen to Jeremy Clarcson From TOP GEAR (BBC's and Europe's top TV car show) you will get the idea that american cars are C**p.
IMO, i sometimes regret the time i paid 90k€ (125k$) for the Cayman S, instead of paying 70k€ for the fully equiped C06 Corvette.
Sometimes though not always ;)
What do you think?

===> Lady evil. Top speed >198 mph, base price <$70k.
That being said, when I lived in Europe (Germany), the locals all said Corvettes were for "drug dealers & pimps." With that attitude, no wonder German sports cars look so bland (although the Cayman does look nice)...

The reason I bought a Maserati and not a Corvette... Because I couldn't spend 60 or 70 thousand dollars and wake up in the morning knowing I had spent it on a Chevy....
The Corvette is a nice car but over here in the US, it's as common as dirt on earth... That and when you can get a Grand Sport for a little more that is such a nicer more well built car with a Ferrari V8... What can I say??? I have yet to hear a Vette or Camaro that even sounded half as good as my Maserati...
Ferrari/Maserati, cars of legends...
Yes Vettes are commonplace, but I've seen more F430s in Dallas than I have new Z06's with that nostril up front. Italian sports cars rule, but the new Z06 looks more evil than anything I've ever seen. I want that evil American car next to my Maserati. What Panos said was pretty cool...it looks like you feed it lambs! :D
