Probably won't stop Porsche from selling a gazillion of them and making enough to buy up the rest of VW

that's the BEST looking picture I've seen of it, which isn't saying much.

to be fair, that rear wing looks to be retractable which may help the lines but the roofline reminds me of the 2+2 E-Type which I also never thought much of.

they will sell a gazillion of them to the same posers that bought the Cayenne.

"Porsche Panamera details:
Code name: G 1
Porsche’s first front engined, rear drive four door sedan
4x4 as an option
Engine: 400 HP 4.8 liter 4V per cylinder V8
Top of range Panamera Turbo with 520 HP
Top speed 180 mph
Release: 2010
Hybrid version planned for 2011
Production begins 08.2009 in Porsche’s Leipzig plant
20.000 units per year
35% for the US market
Price: between Eur 80.000 and Eur 125.000"

they are aiming at selling 20,000 of these each year... 35% to the US... so 7000 of these in the US each year? steeldream is correct. they just 'upgrade' those Cayenne owners into these.

i guess they have enough owners in various models that might be interested in a porsche sedan.

it looks ugly and boring.

zat ez zhat z germans do best. they are getting good at blending in all the great details that made their cars sexy its like they are trying to hide the fact that they are purpose built sports cars.

and the Cayenne Turbo S is a wet dream...I completely forgot I was driving a SUV and not a real sports car.

A friend owns a Porsche dealership, he told me to not believe any of the spy photos that the PNA reps have continued to say that those spy shots are not the final product and it'll be pleasing to the eyes. In reality though, I have to believe that those spy shots are close to the final product

Compare that to Aston's new 4 door Rapide which comes very close to the modern QP in the beauty stakes. No contest, apart from the fact that the Porche will cost less than half the price of the Aston (probably).

Porsche seems locked or forced to make variations of the 911 body look when branching out into other body types. The Cayenne resembles a 911 body with a lift kit on it, so it appears somewhat cartoonish. The Panamera looks like someone took a 911, bloated it out, and made a limo version by adding a middle section.

Unless you just dig Porsche no matter what, the attempts to get away from only a 911 seem flubby looking, the exception being the Cayman which, to me, looks better than a 911.
